AUBURN — The Sandy River Charitable Foundation has given Good Shepherd Food-Bank of Auburn a $200,000, two-year grant to help with its mission.

With the grant and awards from several other donors, the food bank will have $340,000 with which to purchase 520,000 pounds of local food to distribute to Maine families facing hunger as part of its Mainers Feeding Mainers program.

The Sandy River Charitable Foundation is a Farmington-based family foundation run by a volunteer board dedicated to “engender the physical and social well-being and encourage the human spirit of our neighbors throughout the world.”
