I wanted to set the facts straight about the town sand availability that Ollie Emery misspoke of in his letter, printed Nov. 3. The public sand pile is in the same location it has always been.
Because of the expense and inconvenience to Mechanic Falls residents if the sand was locked up at the transfer station, the Town Council opted to require a vehicle identifier (windshield sticker) for residents.
The idea Emery wrote about was merely a proposal and should not have been passed off as new policy. The $3 fee covers the cost of the sticker to help the town with enforcement, not to purchase sand.
