1942 – 2014

SCARBOROUGH — Sue O. Record, 72, of Clinton, passed away Monday morning, Nov. 3, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, after a nine-month battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born in Livermore Falls on May 17, 1942, the only child of Cameron F. and Winola K. Osgood. Her education was in the Livermore Falls Public School System, where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class. While in high school, she was active in music programs including concert, marching and dance band.

She worked at the Livermore Falls Advertiser on evenings and in summers, proofing print and folding papers for delivery. After majoring in music at the University of New Hampshire for two years, she moved back home to commute to Farmington Teachers College (now the University of Maine at Farmington), and graduated with highest honors as one of the top three in her class. Her teaching career started in Old Town and was followed by 26 years teaching first grade in Waterville.

In 1964, she was a winning contestant on the TV show “Password,” with Peter Lawford and Eydie Gorme. She was pleased to have visited all of the United States, except Alaska.

Following her retirement in 2002, she enjoyed wintering in Arizona, spending a month in Aruba on “Lake Green” and then summering at her family camp in Chesterville. For Sue, there was nothing better than being at camp with her children and six grandchildren.

She was a member of the Clinton Jaycee Wives, the Clinton Ladies Evening Extension and was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.

Sue is survived by her husband of 50 years, David H. Record, of Clinton; daughter, Kelli R. O’Brien and husband, Sean B. O’Brien, of Falmouth; and son, Jason D. Record and wife, Laura L. Record, of Cumberland. Also surviving her are her six grandchildren, Seamus O’Brien, Maggie O’Brien, Declan O’Brien, Riley Record, Kelsey Record and Colin Record. Her family also includes brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Duane and Sharon Record of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Kathy Record of Wayne; a nephew; four nieces; and many, many cousins.
