AUBURN — Martell J. Craig, 84, formerly of 62 Gammon Ave., died Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Clover Health Care, with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Eaton on Oct. 1, 1930, a daughter of the late Cecil and Etta (Morse) Bragdon. On Aug. 6, 1947, Martell married the love of her life, Elsmore “Bud” Craig, who predeceased her on Jan. 9, 2009. After raising her nine children, she worked in the shoe industry for 15 years at Billen Shoe and Cole Hahn Shoe.
Martell enjoyed knitting, cooking and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed having her famous molasses cookies in the glass jar under the cupboard for the grandchildren.
She is survived by her nine children, Gloria Wyatt of South Carolina, John Craig and wife, Noella, of Masardis, Etta Soucy and her husband, Dr. Levi H., of Deer Isle, Elsmore “Butch” Craig and wife, Gail, of Minot, Diana Collins and husband, Brian, of Auburn, Mary Levesque and husband, Gerry, of Tennessee, Phyllis Greer of South Carolina, Penny Craig and companion, Dana Gallant, of Auburn and Jean Coolidge and husband, George, of Poland; a sister, Pat Mollison, of Florida; three brothers, Clair Bragdon of New York, Donald Bragdon of Stockton Springs and Jim Hodgkins of Clifton; 31 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Clive and Arthur Bragdon; four sisters, Phyllis Williams, Lois Watt, Nancy Tomah and Julia Stoddard; and four grandchildren, Paul Levesque, Sara Raymond, Donnie Greer and Kristin Scharfenberger.
