LEWISTON — The Franco Center will host its first session of “French for Teen” classes beginning on Thursday, Nov. 13.

The once-a-month get-together will consist of 90-minute sessions running from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The classes, which are free, will be held on the second Thursday of every month from November to May.

A full schedule of classes will be available at the first session, or by contacting the Franco Center.

The classes will provide an opportunity for teens to do some activities in French that give them a basic knowledge of the language as well as some the local Franco-American culture and other French-speaking cultures. The Maine French Heritage Language Program curriculum will be used as one of the supports for the activities offered.

Interactive games, word-play, music and songs, as well as movies will be major components of this session.

The course will be taught by Jacynthe Jacques, a native of Quebec who has lived in the Lewiston area for the past 19 years.
