LEWISTON — Kundalini yoga and meditation with Claudette Lyons-Daigle will be held from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. each Wednesday beginning Nov. 12, at the YWCA of Central Maine on East Avenue.

Kundalini yoga is often described as the “yoga of awareness” as it will open up the heart, build strength and release the energy located at the base of the spine. Benefits include increased flexibility, expanded lung capacity, a strong core and stress alleviation.

Preregistration for the class is not required. Participants may purchase a yoga punch card (10 classes) for $75 for YWCA members and $90 for nonmembers. Drop-in rates are also available: $8 for YWCA members and $10 for nonmembers. First class is always free.

Locker rooms with showers are available. Participants should bring a mat, water and a blanket (to keep warm during mediation period).

Lyons-Daigle is a certified Kundalini and meditation instructor. She received her teaching certificate in 2013 at the yoga teacher training program by Anmol Mehta out of New Jersey. Lyons-Daigle has been working as a substitute Kundalini yoga instructor for Chill Yoga in Lewiston since receiving her certificate. She worked for over a decade in the medical field.
