LEWISTON — Lewiston area consumers have an opportunity to learn what new health insurance options will be available through the Health Insurance Marketplace in 2015 before open enrollment begins.
Community Clinical Services, a federally-qualified health center affiliated with St. Mary’s Health System, is kicking off the open enrollment period with an information session from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the B Street Community Center (first floor, Conference Room A), 57 Birch St.
Representatives from health plans and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be available to answer questions and review new options. Consumers will also have an opportunity to meet with state and local officials as well as partner organizations available to assist with enrollment into the Health Insurance Marketplace.
The event kicks off a series of statewide Health Insurance Marketplace outreach events around open enrollment. Now is the time for individuals who purchased health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace (Healthcare.gov) to make changes to their current health plans and check tax credit information. It is also the time for uninsured individuals to sign up for coverage to avoid the cost sharing penalty.
Consumers who wish to work with a certified application counselor or navigator will have an opportunity to sign up for personalized counseling throughout open enrollment, Nov. 15 through Feb. 15.
