1932 – 2014

LEWISTON — Roland L. Blake, 82, of Poplar Drive, Poland, died Friday, Nov. 7, at Central Maine Medical Center with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Winthrop on Oct. 21, 1932, a son of the late Earland and Thursla (Ward) Blake.

Roland married his true love, Dorothy Pettengill, on Aug. 10, 1950. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years. He worked for Loring Short & Harmon as a truck driver.

Roland was a founding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auburn. He loved his church and was always a very active member and very proud of his faith.

He enjoyed his music, playing guitar, taking his boys fishing and spending time with his family. He was a very devoted father and husband.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Blake of Poland; his five children, Dianne Wright and husband, Steven, of Auburn, Richard Blake and wife, Michelle, of Utah, Dale Blake and wife, Susan, of North Monmouth, Timothy Blake and wife, Shealena, of Leeds and Robert Blake and wife, Carol, of Norway; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

He was predeceased by a brother, Erland Blake.
