Cub Scout Pack 76 will be collecting worn and tattered US flags, and together with Boy Scout Troop 76, properly retire them at its next pack meeting.

Proper flag etiquette should be understood by all citizens as a way to show respect for our country, our veterans and our forefathers. Knowing how to correctly display, present and fold the US flag is a key part of scouting.

When a flag is worn or damaged to an extent that it can no longer be displayed, it should be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner.

If you have a US flag that you would like retired, it can be given to any Cub Scout in Pack 76. You can also contact Dan Phillips atphillips4oldtown@yahoo.com and a scout will pick it up. You can also drop them off at the Bricknet IT building on Main Street in Old Town until November 20.
