1946 – 2014

AUBURN — Glenn T. Wright, 68, of Norway, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Hospice House.

Glenn was born in Lynn, Mass., on Oct. 2, 1946, a son of Robert B. and Muriel Tibbo Wright Sr. He attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Trade School, where he learned the trade of a machinist.

On March 22, 1966, he entered the U.S. Air Force. He faithfully served his country in Vietnam and was a veteran of the Tet Offensive.

After returning from service to his country, Glenn worked as a machinist for many years and also owned and operated North Country Machine in South Paris. He was later employed for several years at Poland Spring Bottling, where he worked in machine maintenance. He retired from Poland Spring in 2012, and moved to Florida for a time.

Glenn was involved in local sports, in which he played in the local Men’s ASA Fast Pitch Softball League and he also coached a local girls’ softball team. An avid bowler, he bowled in leagues and several tournaments, as well as working some at Hobbs Lucky Lanes in South Paris.

Glenn will be remembered for his storytelling and his fabulous sense of humor. He was a great friend to all who knew him.

Besides being a hard worker, Glenn was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and the Relay For Life, and he also volunteered at several soup kitchens in Maine and Florida. Following Hurricane Sandy, Glenn volunteered again with the Red Cross driving a truck and delivering meals to people in New Jersey and New York who were affected by the storm.

He lived in Maine since 1974, moving here from Lynn, Mass.

Surviving are his two sons, Kelly Wright and his wife, Tammy, of Norway, and Kris Wright and his wife, Rachel, of South Paris; his daughter, Jill March and her husband, Andrew, of Otisfield; two brothers, Robert Jr. and Bryant; two sisters, Alice Ricca and Carol McPherson, all of Massachusetts; and seven grandchildren.
