Joey Gamache’s shot at a title will have to wait a little longer. Gamache was diagnosed Friday as having tendonitis and calcium deposits in his left elbow, and the scheduled Dec. 1 fight with Tommy Hanks for the IBF-intercontinental junior lightweight title has been postponed. Gamache has been suffering with the condition through his last two fights — against Johnny Kalbhenn in July and against Richie Foster in September — but the pain worsened significantly in the last week. “The pain is in the back of my arm, just below the elbow,” Gamache said Friday night. “The doctor says I should take four to five weeks off and get complete therapy, so that’s what I’m going to do. But if they tell me it’s career-threatening, I’ll have to take the time off. It’s not going away, so I can’t procrastinate any more.” Johnny Bos, Gamache’s matchmaker and co-promoter, is unsure how he will proceed In scheduling bouts. “I don’t want him fighting for a title if he’s not 100 percent,” said Bos in a telephone interview from New York Friday night.
