LEWISTON — There will be a benefit dance and raffle to help Jeremy Dix and his family from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at the Carriage House, 1119 Lisbon St.

In November 2011, Dix wasn’t feeling well and his wife, Abby, rushed him to the emergency room. While there, a tumor was discovered in Jeremy’s brain. The couple named the tumor “Bertha,” which was later removed.

The couple’s daughter, Genevieve, was born on Aug. 24.

In September, during a routine check-up, doctors discovered Jeremy’s tumor had returned and he had surgery to remove it last month. After the surgery, doctors diagnosed Jeremy with grade 3 astrocytoma, a slow-growing form of brain cancer. He is now facing eight months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Last month, friends and family organized a yard sale that raised $2,300 to help the Dix family — or Team Dix — with medical and other expenses. Proceeds from the Nov. 21 event will also go to help with their costs.

Many wonderful items have already been donated. To donate an item or money, contact [email protected], or go to http://www.gofundme.com/teamdix.
