TOPSHAM — Cathance River Education Alliance and the Topsham Public Library will host the next program in their monthly Community Nature Programs Series on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

The free program, “Predators!,” will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Topsham Public Library and is open to the public.

What do the cougar, gray wolf, grizzly bear, and the great white shark all have in common? They are predators who have adapted superior skills to survive in the wild. Although often misunderstood, predators can ultimately hold the key to the overall health of our ecosystems. The Chewonki Foundation will be on hand to illustrate this concept of intricate balance with a live owl, bat and turtle ambassador.

There is no program in December.

In January, CREA and the Topsham library will host a program on preserve field studies from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the library.

Mt. Ararat biology students will present their long-term research findings on projects throughout the Cathance River Preserve. Students chose a topic to research with local scientist mentors, working in small groups and collecting data weekly throughout the fall. Lab reports, digital posters, and presentations will be shared as culminating final products.
