JAY — The Jay Village Water District issued a boil-water order Saturday for customers who lost their water when there was a major water-line break on Main Street on Saturday.
Affected customers should boil water for 1 minute, district Superintendent Mike Wells said in a release. That includes water people plan to drink, use to brush their teeth and make ice cubes. After the water is boiled, it can be put in the refrigerator.
The district is required to bring samples to a laboratory in Augusta to be tested for E. coli and coliform bacteria.
The district will make an announcement when customers can stop boiling water.
