1927 – 2014
RUMFORD — Anita M. Coulombe, 87, formerly of Prospect Avenue in Rumford, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, at Rumford Community Home following a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Rumford on July 9, 1927, a daughter of James and Yvonne (Hamann) Gallant. Anita was educated in Mexico schools. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Anita married Gerard E. Coulombe on Nov. 19, 1960, in Dixfield, and they celebrated 40 years of marriage; he passed away in October 2000.
She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. Anita was a member of the Snowshoe Club. Her greatest passion in life was taking care of her children and grandchildren, as well as the many children she cared for in her day care for over 40 years.
As a young woman, Anita was employed at Stasulis Market in Mexico for several years.
Anita enjoyed camping at Snowshoe Camp Ground on Worthley Pond for many years. She also enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards with her sisters and making homemade chocolates for the holidays.
Surviving are her children, Louise Botkus and husband, David, of Andover, Gerry Coulombe and wife, Stephanie, of Texas, Arthur Gallant of Rumford, Nancy Duguay and husband, Wayne, of St. George, Richard Coulombe and wife, Belinda, of Rumford, Roger Coulombe and wife, Tina, of Carthage and Donald Coulombe and wife, Susan, of South Rumford; a brother, Arthur Gallant, of Saco; 13 grandchildren, Rhonda Gallant, Chris Gallant, David Botkus, Kelly Coulombe, Carrie Coulombe, Daniel Coulombe, Kurt Duguay, Ashley Provencher, Justin Coulombe, Mariya Coulombe, Jacob Coulombe, Jared Coulombe and Haley Coulombe; and seven great-grandchildren, Christie Gallant, K. J. Gallant, Morgan Gallant, Riley Botkus, Maddy Botkus, Pierce Botkus and Tristan Duguay.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gerard; daughter-in-law, Joyce Gallant; five sisters, Yvonne Gallant, Mary Gallant, Jeannette Lamontagne, Beatrice McInnis and Doris McInnis; two brothers, Joseph Gallant and Edgar Gallant; a sister-in-law, Colombe Bourgoine; and a granddaughter, Maryann Botkus.
