Bethel Seniors need reservations

BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Bethel Inn for their meeting and dinner.

The menu will be turkey or haddock.

Price of dinner for members is $13.

Reservations must be made before Dec. 1 by calling Arlene Lowell at 824-2877 with your choice.

Red Hat Mommas Christmas party

RUMFORD — The Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine will hold their Christmas party at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Bistro in Rumford.

Pay on your own.

If you plan to attend, call Isabel by Dec. 1.

On Nov. 5, a group of seven went to Pineland Farms in Pownal for their monthly meeting.

They toured the farm and had lunch.

Hospital Auxiliary fundraisers

RUMFORD — The annual Rumford Hospital Auxiliary holiday jewelry sale will be held on Monday, Dec. 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Rumford Hospital Conference Room A on the ground floor of the hospital.

Jewelry, scarves and other items will be priced from $2 to $10, well below usual retail prices. The public is invited to come to browse and buy.

The annual poinsettia sale is open for orders until Monday, Dec. 1. The cost is $10 for an eight-inch foil-covered pot of poinsettias delivered to your home or business.

Payment is not due until delivery by Auxiliary members on Dec. 5. But orders must be made by Dec. 1. Call Auxiliary President Barbara Belanger at 364-3648 or email her at [email protected] to order.

Pie-baking class at Turner Adult Ed.

TURNER — A pie-baking class will be held Thursday, Dec. 4, sponsored by MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education. There are still openings.

Learn to make a standard two-crust pie as well as fresh fruit tarts. Discover the secrets of vinegar pastry dough. The class will include hands-on instruction plus recipes, tips and tasting opportunities.

Students should bring an apron, rolling pin, Ziploc bag and rolling mat if possible.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Nov. 24 were as follows: first, Les Buzzell and Bill Clifford; second, Paul Mitnik and Paul Sherman; third, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings.

Winners on Nov. 25 were: first, Les Buzzell and John Pettengill; second, Paul Sherman and Mike True; third, Rosemarie and Tom Goodwin.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all social bridge players are welcomed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for more information.
