1925 – 2014

FRYEBURG — Violet May Fox, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 29, at her home in Fryeburg.

She was born in Ossipee, N.H. ,on Sept. 10, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Charlotte Sawyer Smith Sr., and was educated in Fryeburg schools.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 68 years, John Fox, who passed away May 15, 2011; a daughter, Fay; five brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana and her husband, Dwight Mchellan, of Conway, N.H., and Kay Legare and her husband, Paul, of North Waterford; a sister, Viola Cram of Fryeburg; two grandsons, Kevin and Michael Mchellan; one granddaughter, Michelle Legare; two great-granddaughters, Makayla and Lexi Mchellan; and two great-grandsons, Matthew and Marcus Mchellan.

Violet was employed many years cleaning houses and also worked at several hotels in the area. Her hobbies were bingo, embroidering and casinos. She was also a great cook and enjoyed playing cards and going camping with family members.
