FARMINGTON — The annual Chester Greenwood Day celebration Saturday will feature activities planned by local groups and organizations.

The Farmington Historical Society will open the Octagon House, the Titcomb House and the Old North Church in downtown Farmington, according to a release. At the Octagon House at High and Perham streets visitors can view the specially decorated home filled with history and memories from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Richards’ Florist, Riverside Greenhouse and Robin’s Flower Pot will provide floral arrangements to decorate the home. These will be raffled at the end of the day.

The house will also be filled with holiday music starting at 10:30 a.m. Jane Parker will play the piano and join a friend for a four-hands duet. The Merry Plinksters Ukulele Group will play Christmas tunes starting at 12:30 p.m.

During the event, Guy Roux will sign the next volume of his books on the Narrow Gauge Railroad and Anne Maillett will sell copies of her father Richard Maillett’s book on Farmington. A donation of $5 is requested at the door.

For the holidays, the Mt. Blue Garden Club will decorate the Titcomb House at High and Academy streets. The house is a museum for the historical society and is always free to the public to view. Displays in the home are changed periodically.

The historical society will continue its Christmas wreath sale Saturday at Titcomb House.

The Old North Church will be open for the Farmington Rotary Club’s annual Festival of Trees. Viewing takes place from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed immediately by an auction of the trees, according to the Rotary’s Facebook page. The club will decorate a special tree with gift certificates and other items for the auction.

From 1 to 5 p.m., musical groups will perform upstairs. A social time will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by the auction.

Funds raised are used for Rotary projects such as heating oil assistance and local food pantries.

Farmington Emblem Club No. 460 will host a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge in West Farmington.

The American Legion will also host its annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post 28 at High and Middle streets.

The Franklin County Arts and Crafts Association will hold its annual Christmas Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Student Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Members of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will offer a cookie walk from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Academy Street church. Candy and white elephant items are also available.

The church will also offer a Chester Greenwood Day luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Henderson Memorial Church. The menu includes beef stew, fish and corn chowders and French onion soup, homemade bread and dessert.
