Homemakers to meet Dec. 11

Christmas shopping for children

AVON — The annual Christmas shopping event for children 12 and under will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Avon Town House on Route 4.

Elves will be on hand to help with gift selection and wrapping. This event is sponsored by the Phillips Community of Christian Women.

Farmington public supper Dec. 13

FARMINGTON — A baked beans and casserole supper will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Bake sale, books, boutique in Wayne

WAYNE — Wayne Library will hold its holiday bake sale, book sale and boutique from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road.

Stock up on homemade Christmas cookies, pies, cakes and candy. Savory treats will also be available. The boutique will feature Christmas ornaments and decorations, stocking stuffers and one-of-a-kind gifts.

Don’t miss the Kinkade Hawthorne Village display; all the individual pieces will be for sale at great prices.

The book sale will be open, too, with lots of nearly new books, CDs and DVDs that make wonderful gifts.

Stop in for a cup of coffee and, new this year, a light lunch of chili, soup or quiche.

Santa’s Workshop at St. Luke’s

WILTON — Santa’s Workshop will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 59 High St. (at the corner of School and High streets). Arrive early for best selection.

Annually, on the second Saturday in December, St. Luke’s provides area children with an affordable alternative for gift shopping during the holidays.

Adults can enjoy complimentary refreshments in “Santa’s Kitchen” while youths shop for new and gently used items to give loved ones. No items are priced at more than $1 and kids receive free custom gift-wrapping before leaving.

Masons to hold ham dinner

NEW SHARON — A public ham dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Franklin Masonic Lodge.

Served with potato, coleslaw, vegetables, rolls and homemade pie. Take out available. Adults, $8; age 6-12, $6; under 6, free. Proceeds benefit the Building Fund.
