JAY — A police cruiser received minor damage early Sunday when it collided with a deer on Route 133, Chief Ernest Steward said Wednesday.

Livermore Falls police Lt. Joseph Sage investigated the accident in accordance with the practice of calling outside agencies when a town vehicle is involved.

Jay officer Wilmor Herrin was not injured in the 1 a.m. incident, Steward said.

The cruiser had more than $1,000 damage but was driven from the scene and is at the Jay Police Station, Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said.

The dead deer was tagged and taken by an officer, she said.
