1930 – 2014

HARTFORD — Roger William Marshall, 84, a resident of Hartford, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, at his home.

He was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Lewiston, the son of the late Howard and Frieda (Foster) Marshall. He attended local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in the Class of 1951.

In 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served his country in the combat zone during the Korean War until 1954.

On Sept. 12, 1954, he married Natalie Tribou at the East Auburn Baptist Church. They made their home in East Auburn for 35 years and their home on Bear Pond in Hartford for the past 25 years.

He enjoyed building their camp at Bear Pond as well as water skiing, hunting and fishing.

After high school and before his military service, Roger had his own ice delivery business and then went on to work at the Maine Die Company for 35 years.

He was a proud beekeeper of 96 hives and had his own business of selling honey and pollination service.

He was a past member of the East Auburn Men’s Club, Maine Beekeepers Association and the Bear Pond Improvement Association.

He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and enjoyed all their many activities. He was a great support for his family in all their endeavors.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Natalie Marshall of Hartford; children, Mike Marshall and his wife, Nancy, of Big Lake Township, Linda Mitchell and her husband, Mike, of Minot; grandchildren, Jennifer Swisher and her husband, Jake, of Colorado, Jason Marshall and his wife, Kaleena, of Iowa, Tracey Vining and her husband, Justin, of Buckfield, Kevin Mitchell of Turner and Shawn Mitchell of Minot; great-grandchildren, Kendall Swisher, Elias and Zadok Marshall, and Daisy and Jayna Vining; as well as Nancy Marshall’s two sons, Brent and Billy Delnicki and their families.

He was predeceased by brothers, Philip, Richard and Raymond Marshall; his sister, Frances Grant; brother-in-law, Bryant Tribou; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Scribner Marshall.
