Pine Cone OES to meet Dec. 11

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26 Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The chapter will celebrate Christmas and bring stuffed Christmas stockings for children to Officer Poulin of the Auburn Police Department.

Pine Cone has the traveling teddy bear and moose for District 4.

Refreshments will be served in the dining hall following the meeting.

All Eastern Star members are welcomed.

New Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — New Auburn Senior Citizens will meet for open bingo at noon Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Sacred Heart Church. Doors open at 9 a.m. The canteen will be open.

For open bingo, everybody is invited; participants don’t have to be a member.

There will be no meetings in January and February. The next meeting will be March 4, followed by the beef stew luncheon on March 18. The cost will be $5.

Those interested in becoming members may join at any Wednesday gathering. Dues are expected to be paid on the first Wednesday of the month. Any who cannot pay at the meeting may send payment and a self-addressed envelope to Helen Marsh, 32 Chris Ave., Sabattus ME 04280.

‘Healthy Holiday’ cooking class

LEWISTON — A vegan cooking class on “Healthy Holiday Entertaining” will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at The Ark & Luncheon Cafe, 791 Lisbon St.

Cheryl Farley, nutritionist, will demonstrate some of her favorite holiday delights. As always there will be free samples to taste.

NARFE chapter to meet Dec. 16

LEWISTON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 1804 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Ramada Inn.

Public Chanukah party at Temple Shalom

AUBURN — Temple Shalom will hold a Chanukah party, open to the entire community, at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at 74 Bradman St.

Lighting of the Mega-Menorah will take place with honored guest Jonathan LaBonte, mayor of Auburn. There will be a catered dinner with latkes, live music, dreidel games, crafts and prizes.

People are invited to bring their menorahs to light them together.

The event is free; donations are always welcome.

Marine Corps League Detachment

LEWISTON — Marine Corps League Detachment 810 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Holy Cross Church on Lisbon Street.

All Marines are welcome. The group meets on the last Thursday of every month, except in November and December.

The meetings are held in the basement; enter on the left side of the church where a Marine flag will be visible by the entrance.

Annual Community Carol Sing

MONMOUTH — The annual Community Carol Sing will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at East Monmouth Methodist Church, Route 135.

All are welcome to join in singing traditional Christmas carols, and to listen to community singers and musicians, stories and poems in the festive setting of a lovely church built in 1838. Refreshments will be served.
