MEXICO — The Police Department will host an open house for the Mexico Explorers program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Police Department, Chief Roy Hodsdon said.
The open house is a way for youths ages 12 and older to learn about the program.
“We’re going to have former Explorers, current Explorers and former advisers to the program available to answer questions,” Hodsdon said.
Parents are encouraged to attend, he said.
“We always like the parents showing up so that there are no unknowns for them,” Hodsdon said. “They get to see what their kids will be doing with us.”
He said he’s hoping to get a junior Explorers program started for younger children.
“If you’re 12 or older, you can come to the open house and hear about the program,” Hodsdon said. “If younger kids join, they wouldn’t be able to do certain things, like traffic details, but they’d be able to watch what we do, and when they turn 14, they can become a full-fledged Mexico Explorer.”
