PARIS — Police said a local man is charged with blocking a woman’s windpipe and striking her in the face at a residence on Alpine Street.

Christopher John Bradbury, 44, was arrested at the home Wednesday morning after police received a complaint from a neighbor about a loud fight, according to Paris police Lt. Jeffrey Lange.

Bradbury faces a charge of felony Class B aggravated assault, which carries a maximum 10 years in prison sentence upon conviction. He is also charged with misdemeanor domestic violence assault. He is being held at the Oxford County Jail in Paris and is expected to make an initial court appearance Friday, according to a deputy at the jail.

According to Lange, Bradbury placed a woman in a headlock, which inhibited her breathing, and struck her in the face. She was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital for evaluation and released.

Officer William Grover arrested Bradbury without incident around 11:30 a.m.
