On Dec. 16, 2014, at 6:30 p.m., there was a bad accident on the Skillings Corner Road in Auburn. No police were called, no ambulance. But there was a car, a blue car, that left all sorts of parts and pieces (even a quarter of a blue wheel well) at the scene.
The driver never bothered to stop. Must have been in a hurry or didn’t care.
But it was a family pet that had been hit. He had been put on his lead but escaped. The veterinarian said he may live, but in a doggie wheelchair, and this and that would have to be done for him every few hours.
It was decided that it would be best to have him put down.
Duncan was a beloved pet. Only four years old, he was a little pug/Boston terrier mix. He was evidently an escape artist. The family he leaves behind, and his mate, Harley, won’t forget that dear little dog that was so hyper.
They found him in the road, folded up like a piece of trash.
It would have been a kindness if the driver had at least tried to find the owner; had taken the time to stop.
I hope the driver will remember and think about what he hit that night.
