AUBURN — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Harvey J. Desgrosseilliers was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Manship assisted by Deacon Denis Maillhot Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Philip’s Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.

At the entrance of the church, Harvey’s daughters, Jane Desgrosseilliers and Susan MacMillan, draped their father’s casket with a white pall signifying Harvey’s Baptism into a new spiritual life with God. A Scripture Reading from John of the New Testament was proclaimed by Hervey’s friend, Ruth Leavitt. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by Harvey’s niece, Celeste Horan. Words of Remembrance were shared by Harvey’s daughters, Jane Desgrosseilliers, Erica Thorbjornson as well as Susan MacMillan and Diane Castle.

Harvey’s nephew, Col. Todd Desgrosseilliers, U.S. Marine Corps, served as Rachel’s military escort in tribute to his uncle.

Following a funeral procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, the Rev. Manship recited committal prayers after which the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Detail played taps and folded and presented our country’s flag to Harvey’s wife, Rachel, in recognition of her husband’s service to his country.

The pallbearers were Andy MacMillan, Simon Castle, Garrett Thorbjornson, Marc Desgrosseilliers, as well as Troy and Richard Baillargeon.

At the conclusion of services, all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at Rolandeau’s Restaurant in Auburn.
