1933 – 2014

POWAY, Calif. — Janice Levine Blum of Rancho Bernardo, Calif., passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, at Pomerado Hospital in Poway, Calif., with her family at her side.

Born March 10, 1933, in Lewiston, a daughter of William and Sophie Levine, Jan graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1951. She attended Simmons College in Boston, where she met and married Merv Blum of Compton, Calif., a student at MIT.

After moving to Los Angeles with her husband and graduating from Pepperdine University, the couple lived in a variety of places while raising their family, including Woodland Hills and Palo Alto in California, and for the past several years in Rancho Bernardo (San Diego), Calif.

Jan was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren; enjoyed traveling the world, working out at the gym, playing bridge, walking the marinas and engaging in temple activities; and as a teenager, loved her summers spent at Old Orchard Beach.

She is survived by her husband, Merv; daughter, Sheri Blum; sons, Kenneth and Eric Blum; grandchildren, Rachel Ginsburg and Alexander and Emily Blum; nephew, Richard Gollis; and brother, Martin G. Levine.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Sandra Levine Gollis.
