BANGOR (AP) — Memorial services have been held for a mother and her two children who were killed in their home in Garland.
An Ellsworth funeral home handled the services Monday for 36-year-old Christina Sargent, 10-year-old Duwayne Coke and 8-year-old Destiny Sargent.
Charged in the killings is Keith Coleman of Garland, Christina Sargent’s boyfriend. Court documents indicate he told police he killed his girlfriend in front the children, then killed the children.
The 27-year-old Coleman, who’s being held without bail, was scheduled appeared in a Bangor court on Tuesday but the hearing was delayed. Defense lawyer Martha Harris has suggested he may suffer from mental health problems.
The children attended Ridge View Community School in Dexter. The school district will have counselling available when students return from break next week.
