1946 – 2014
AUBURN — Donald Edwin Woodbury Jr., 68, of Auburn, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, after a brief illness.
Don was born on Oct. 1, 1946, the only child of Donald and Dorothy Ashton Woodbury. A 1964 graduate of Edward Little High School, Don went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University. He also earned his master’s degree from Wagner College.
After working for various state agencies in Connecticut, Maryland and Georgia, Don became the director of benefits at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Ga. Upon returning to Maine, he became the town manager for West Paris for several years. In his semi-retirement, Don worked at Poland Spring Country Club.
Don’s interests included woodworking, many rounds of golf, time on Jekyll Island and a good burger with friends at Gipper’s. He looked forward to yearly gatherings of the Ashton family at Reid State Park. He loved reading and completing crossword puzzles on snowy days.
He leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Alvin Collins, and grandchildren, Maci and Maxwell, all of Apex, N.C. Don’s life was also shared with Denise Bradley-Warrender and Myra Pfisterer. Surviving family also includes aunts, Margery Cormier and Amy Ashton of Lewiston; and many cousins and their families, Bill Sterritt, Don Ashton, Barbara Annear, Ernie Ashton, Diana Worthing, Valerie Dawes, Steve Cormier, Tom Woodbury, David Woodbury and Janice Camileri.
Don was predeceased by his parents; many aunts and uncles; and his wife, Carol Fournier Woodbury.
