1959 – 2014

NEW GLOUCESTER — Elizabeth “Liz” Patterson was, first and foremost, a lover of God and lover of people.

Liz passed away on Dec. 31, with her family and friends at her side.

Liz was born in Bangor on March 7, 1959, to Howard and Janet Watkins. She graduated from Lake Region High School and received her bachelor’s degree in recreation from the University of Maine in Orono.

She attended Camp Bendeto in Harrison as a child and later worked as a counselor. She formed many lifelong friendships while attending camp.

Liz was a certified lifeguard and taught Patrick Dempsey how to swim. She was instrumental in the formation of Pathway Vineyard Church and served in many capacities for over 20 years. She was very active in the March of Dimes, raising money for premature babies. Liz oversaw the food vending for the Bronze Back Open fishing tournament on the Androscoggin River for many years.

She married Mark Patterson in a double wedding ceremony at Lake Auburn on Aug. 28, 1993. The couple has two beautiful daughters, Karen Marie “Kam” and Kaitlynn. They raised their family in New Gloucester, where they have lived for 18 years.

Liz was employed as a process tech engineer for more than 25 years at Fairchild Semiconductor. She worked nights and received many awards for excellence in her work.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; her daughters, Karen Marie and Kaitlynn; her mother, Janet Love; and her brother, Tom. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Liz was predeceased by her father, Howard; her sister, Caroline; and her stepfather, David Love.
