1919 – 2015
LEWISTON — Irene C. LeCompte, 95, passed away from a short illness after a period of failing health on Thursday, Jan. 1, at Russell Park.
She was born in Van Buren on Nov. 28, 1919, the daughter of the late Fred and Rose (Thibodeau) Cyr. Irene was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1935.
On Jan. 25, 1941, she married Romeo P. LeCompte, and they had four sons.
Irene was a hairdresser and owned and operated her own beauty shop, Irene’s Beauty Salon, for many years.
She enjoyed playing beano, cards and cribbage at the Multi-Purpose Center on Birch Street in Lewiston.
She is survived by two sons, Richard and wife, Monique, of Auburn and Daniel and wife, Louise, of Sabattus; four grandchildren, Adam, Wesley, Katie and Lea; five great-grandchildren, Hayden, Sophia, Ian, Lucas and Ella; a niece, Harriet; and a special cousin, Arleen.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Romeo, in 1999; and two sons, John in 1942 and Ronald in 1992.
