AUBURN — A Memorial Mass honoring the life of Irene A. Levesque was celebrated by the Rev. Robert Lariviere Saturday, Jan. 3, at Sacred Heart Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish following prayers at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home in Lewiston.
During the processional into church, Irene’s daughter, Louise Nunn, carried her mother’s urn to the front of the altar next to the symbolic Paschal Candle, which represented Irene’s Baptism into a new spiritual life with God. Irene’s granddaughter, Emily Nunn, placed a framed picture of Irene by her grandmother’s urn. Then each of Irene’s family members placed a single white rose next to Irene’s picture on the urn table.
A reading from the Book of Corinthians of the New Testament was proclaimed by Irene’s daughter, Julie Levesque. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Irene’s sister, Florette and her husband, Robert Bouchard. Words of Remembrance were shared by Irene’s daughter, Louise Nunn. At the conclusion of Mass, Irene’s daughter, Julie Levesque, carried her mother’s urn out of church, and then family joined together in a funeral procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Upon arrival, Irene’s son Peter, carried his mother’s urn into the chapel of the cemetery, where the Rev. Lariviere recited committal prayers in the Chapel of St. Peter’s Cemetery. The last words were shared by Irene’s son, Paul Levesque. At the conclusion of services all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at DaVinci’s Eatery in Lewiston.
