First Auburn Seniors to meet
AUBURN — The First Auburn Seniors will meet Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Hasty Community Center.
The meeting will be conducted by President Sue Patenaud at 11 a.m. A board meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Members should bring a bag lunch. Bingo will be played after lunch.
A Christmas dinner was held at the Green Ladle, with music provided by the Lighthouse Jubilees at the last meeting.
Pot of gold winners were Midge Demers, Sally Gagnon and Leroy Walker. A special 50-50 drawing was held and winners were Suzanne Blanchard, Andre Giasson, Norma Goddard, Ginny Houston, John Watson, Cindy Larrabee, Pat Donahue, Diane Vincent, Roy Tassinari and Nancy Hutchinson.
CNA training through Auburn ACE
AUBURN — Auburn Adult and Community Education has announced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training is available.
The program is designed to prepare individuals to become certified in Maine to work as a CNA. Nursing assistant skills are taught and evaluated in the classroom and through clinical “hands-on” experience.
Certification is given upon completion of the course after evaluations in theory, clinical performance and passing state examination. Anyone wishing to apply for the program should call 333-6661.

Lecture on Civil War letters
BRUNSWICK — A Joshua L. Chamberlain Civil War Round Table lecture will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in Curtis Memorial Library’s Morrell Room, 23 Pleasant St.
Speaker will be Gina Hamilton on “Civil War Letters of Harlan and Addison Bailey.”

OES to honor members
AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.
The landmarks of the order will be read and members will renew their obligations. The associate conductress will give her lecture and the secretary will read the Grand Chapter charity information.
The chapter will honor Mary Lawlor, Faylene Webber and James Lawlor, who will receive their life membership certificates. The Lawlors will receive their 25-year pins also.
The chapter has the traveling emblem for District 4.
Refreshments will be served in the dining hall after the meeting by Jocelyn and Brett Jervis. All Eastern Star members are welcome.
