1917 – 2015
AUBURN — Antonin A. Dumais, 97, of 35 Irwin St., Lewiston, died Sunday, Jan. 4, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
Born in Chisholm on May 10, 1917, he was a son of Thomas and Alma Godin Dumais. On Sept. 2, 1940, he married the former Noella Brillant Dumais; she passed away on Oct. 21, 2005.
He was employed for many years as a loom fixer, working for the Continental Mill and Bates Fabrics. Following his retirement in 1982, he worked part-time as a delivery driver for Rowe Auburn. In his later years, he enjoyed his vegetable garden and jigsaw puzzles, and especially spending time with his great-grandson, Derek.
A member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he is survived by a son, Marcel, of Lewiston; two daughters, Pauline Dumais and Lucille Fortin, both of Lewiston; a brother, Brother Bert Dumais, of Quebec, Canada; a son-in-law, Roland Fortin, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Ida Dumais, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Roland Fortin and wife, Maria, of Lafayette, Colo., Daniel Fortin and wife, Sunsearae, of Greene and David Dumais and partner, Justin Laughton, of Medford, Mass.; a great-grandson, Derek Fortin, of Greene; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Linda Dumais; three brothers; and four sisters.
