LEWISTON — Literacy is one of the best predictors of a child’s future success. Children need books in their homes in order to become literate. The reality for children who are growing up in poverty is that books are scarce.
Longley Elementary School, in partnership with First Book, is holding a virtual book drive to build home libraries for Longley students. Using the money raised in this drive, Longley teachers will select quality, high-interest books for students to own.
To make a tax deductible donation to buy books for Lewiston children in need, visit supporters.firstbook.org/goto/Longley by Jan. 10.
As little as $5 buys two new books.
Each donation is a gift that will brighten a child’s future. It’s a gift that lasts a lifetime.
