NORWAY — The following are the January services at the First Universalist Church of Norway, on Main Street. Services start at 11 a.m., with a coffee hour to follow. Religious Education is included and childcare is provided.
Jan. 11, Maryli Tiemann: Maryli Tiemann and her husband, David, are members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick, which was recently rebuilt after a fire a few years back. She sings tenor in the choir and serves in Building and Grounds and Fundraising committees.
Throughout the year Maryli is an educator and a tour guide. She also writes poetry, practices yoga and cares for their 4-year-old grandson and spunky 14-year-old dog, Truman.
Jan. 18, The Social Gospel, with The Rev. Fayre Stephenson: Clarence Skinner, the greatest Universalist theologian of the 20th century, preached “The Social Gospel” as “A Complete Program for Completing Humanity.” On this Sunday morning we’ll take a look at Universalist roots in social justice as we remember Clarence Skinner.
Jan. 25, “That All Souls…” with Joan Beal: In keeping with the month’s theme of “Justice,” Beal will look at the sources of efforts to create a just world. Old Universalist covenants have light to shed on the hows and whys. Voices of current members of the congregation speak to the present.
