1930 – 2015

AUBURN — Murielle R. Majumder, 84, formerly of Webster Street in Lewiston, died Friday, Jan. 9, at Clover Manor.

She was born in Lewiston on March 21, 1930, a daughter of the late Francois and Yvonne (Fortin) Robert. She was educated in local schools. She was a nun for over 17 years and later worked for the Augusta Mental Health Institute.

Murielle married Dr. Santi Majumder, M.D., on Feb. 6, 1976. They spent 25 years in Florida, moving back to Maine to retire. They loved to travel the world and took many cruises together. He predeceased her in 2003.

Murielle was a very faithful member of Holy Cross Church. She enjoyed going for walks, cooking, taking trips to Canada, her dog, Sassy, and spending time with her family. She was a very kind and giving person; she will be missed by all.

Murielle leaves a sister, Laurianne Lambert and her husband, Roland, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Robert, of Lewiston; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Robert; and a sister, Lorraine Martel.
