1924 – 2015

WATERFORD — Virginia J. McGaughran, 90, of Waterford, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, at her home, with her loving caregivers by her side.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 27, 1924, a daughter of August James and Alice Auer McGaughran.

She was a registered nurse in Long Island, N.Y., for many years, before retiring to Maine. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Bridgton.

Virginia is survived by a niece; several grand- and great-nieces and -nephews; many friends; her loving caregivers; and her beloved 15½-year-old cat, Rufus.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Jimmy and Frank; and a sister, Shirley.
