1943 – 2015
AUBURN — Caroline Ricker, 71, of Jay, passed away at the Hospice House on Saturday, Jan. 10, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Aug. 1, 1943, Caroline grew up in Wilton. She married Harvey Ricker, moving to Bath for a short period of time, before returning to Jay to live.
She worked at Forster Manufacturing in Dryden for many years, gaining lifelong friends. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed summers at camp in Weld with family and friends. Her nieces and nephews considered her to be like a second mother and she in turn had a unique relationship with each of them.
She survived cancer with the help of Bobbi-Jo and the support of her family. Caroline loved watching her afternoon soap opera and enjoyed many types of music; she was especially fond of Neil Diamond, who appropriately sang “Sweet Caroline.”
She was always puttering around the house or yard. She was an expert at pinching pennies, as well as note-taker extraordinaire. She was a dedicated wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and will be deeply missed by those who were lucky enough to have known her and enjoyed her irreplaceable qualities.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harvey; sister and best friend, Meredith and her companion, Ted; a sister, Judy; nephews, Tim and his wife, Bobbi-Jo, Leo Jr. and his companion, Kim, and Carroll; nieces, Cindy and her husband, Shane, Cathy and her husband, Howie, Jean and her husband, Rick, and Nancy and her husband, Carl; great-nephews, Andy, Matt, Shane and Jacob; great-nieces, Autumn, Savannah, Trista, Meghan and Marissa; a great-great-niece, Ari; and a great-great-nephew, Cale.
She was predeceased by her parents, Delia and Carroll Sprague; and her brother, Bradford.
The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their special care and compassion.
Tributes and condolences may be shared by visiting her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
