Dirigo 55, Madison 47

MADISON — Lauren Henderson delivered 18 points Monday night, steering Dirigo to a 55-47 MVC girls’ basketball victory over Madison.

Jess Conant added 10 points and Sabrina Daoud eight for the Cougars (9-1). Henderson, Conant and Daoud also combined for four 3-pointers.

Kayla Bess and Madeline Wood each fashioned 15 points to lead the Bulldogs (5-7), while Erin Whalen tore down 14 rebounds. Madison cut a nine-point deficit to five midway through the fourth quarter but could creep no closer.

Carrabec 38, Mt. Abram 31

SALEM — Mt. Abram had reigning Class C West girls’ basketball champion Carrabec on the ropes Monday night but couldn’t quite deliver the knockout in a 38-31 MVC loss.

Emma Pluntke led the way with nine points for the Cobras (6-5), who led by only a single marker with three minutes left before turning a flurry of steals into insurance points.

Megan Sorel scored 11 points and Olivia Ryan registered eight to pace the Roadrunners (1-10). Sorel was 7-from-10 from the free-throw line, and Mt. Abram outscored Carrabec 17-4 from the stripe.
