1936 – 2015
GREENWOOD — Joan C. Morgan, 78, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, at her home.
She was born in Waterford on July 14, 1936, a daughter of Jere and Elizabeth Whitman Cox. She graduated from Norway High School in the Class of 1954. She married Gordon Morgan on Aug. 10, 1958.
Joan had been a telephone operator and an ed tech at school, also substituting for the secretary at Woodstock Elementary School. She volunteered at school as well as editing the school paper.
She loved to play cards, Sudoku, crossword and regular puzzles. She artistically colored, as well as enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading cookbooks and watching and feeding the birds. She had a never-ending love of babies. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her husband, Gordon Morgan, of Greenwood; daughters, Kimetha Roak and companion, Randy Blubaugh, Robin Foster and her husband, Jim, and Vanessa Morgan; son, Martin and his wife, Pam; five grandchildren, Will Rolfe, Whitney Larracey and husband, Tim, Shawn and wife, Heather Roak, Kyle Roak and companion, Marylin Knight, and Brandi and husband, Jesse Eastman; eight great-grandchildren, Ani and Elli Hill, Jada and Brandon Roak, Christopher Deisbeck, Aniah Roak, Dylan Eastman and Serenity Eastman; a brother, Jerald Cox; two sisters, Jane Kimball and Jolene Witham; a stepsister, Rosemarie Dyer; a stepbrother, Randall Millett; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Janis Buck; four brothers-in-law, Pop Buck, Rodney Kimball, Bruno Leino and Wallace Morgan; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Morgan; and a nephew, Gary Morgan.
