JAY — Deonte Ring dropped in a game-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists to spark Spruce Mountain to a 76-46 victory over Nokomis in boys’ basketball.

Tyler Kachnovich scored 17 of his 18 points in the first half for the Phoenix (8-4), and knocked down five 3-pointers in the game. Andrew Darling and Anthony York each added 10 points in the victory.

Zach Hartsgrove led the Warriors with 11 points.

Edward Little 79, Mt. Ararat 44

AUBURN — Lew Jensen scored 10 of his 14 points to key a 27-9 run in the first quarter and Ian Mileikis scored 16 points in his matchup with Eagle guard Shy Ulrickson as Edward Little ran past Mt. Ararat 79-44.

Kaleb Main matched Mileikis with 16 points for the Eddies. Elijah Roe added 10 points, and Luke Sterling chipped in with six assists.

Ulrickson had 14 points to lead Mt. Ararat. Mason Griffin scored 11 points for the Eagles.

Brunswick 66, Mt. Blue 40

FARMINGTON — Alex Bandouveres dropped in a game-high 16 points from the post as Brunswick defeated Mt. Blue 66-40.

Josh Dorr knocked down 12 points for the Dragons, and Caleb Cost added eight more in the win.

Zack Mittelstadt paced the Cougars (1-9) with 10 points, and Evan Backus had eight points.

Gray-NG 68, Fryeburg 54

GRAY — Andreas Kariotis had a monster game, scoring 18 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists, as Gray-New Gloucester dropped Fryeburg Academy 68-54 in boys’ basketball action.

Tyler St. Pierre led the Patriots (5-6) offensively with 20 points, and Zach Haskell chipped in with 16 points and seven steals.

Ryan Gullikson threw down a game-high 22 points for the Raiders (5-6).

Gardiner 60, Leavitt 51

GARDINER — Seth McFarland scored 19 points and Brad Weston added 15 points as Gardiner held off Leavitt 60-51.

Jordan Lamb also had 10 points for the Tigers (10-2). Gabe Seeley scored 21 points for the Hornets (5-7) to go with eight rebounds and six blocks.

Seeley and Eli Calder each scored eight points in the fourth quarter as Leavitt threatened to rally. Isiah Calder had 11 points for the Hornets.

Boothbay 70, Monmouth 45

BOOTHBAY — Senior forward John Hepburn recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead a balanced attack as Bootbhay cleared Monmouth 70-45 in MVC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Seahawks (10-1) jumped out to a 33-18 lead at the half. Jacob Leonard contributed 13 points for Boothbay.

Junior guard Luke Thombs notched a game-high 19 points for the Mustangs (6-6), while Kasey Smith pitched in with 10 points in the losing effort.

Mt. Abram 59, Carrabec 38

SALEM — Senior center Tristen Dyer drained 17 points to lead Mt. Abram to a 59-38 triumph over Carrabec in MVC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Roadrunners (3-8) took a 32-20 halftime lead in a contentious and phyical contest. Quinton Hanna contributed 16 points for Mt. Abram.

Senior guard William Crawford posted a team-high 10 points for the Cobras (1-11) in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 41, Oak Hill 39 (OT)

WALES — Becket Wagner posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead St. Dom’s to a 41-39 overtime victory over Oak Hill in boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

Mike Bryant and Adam Vining contributed 14 and six points, respectively, for the Saints.

Dalton Therrien notched a game-high 21 points for the Raiders. Drew Gamage and Marcus Bailey added seven and six points, respectively, for Oak Hill.

Poland 65, Kennebunk 42

KENNEBUNK — Senior guard Derek Michaud netted a game-high 20 points to lead Poland to a 56-42 victory over Kennebunk in WMC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Knights (6-5) hit full stride in the second half. Michaud scored 12 of his 20 pints in the third quarter. John Fossett contributed 19 points.

Senior forward Jack Lapham scored a team-high 14 points for the Rams (4-7).

Spruce Mountain 71, Nokomis 49

NEWPORT — Spruce Mountain stayed unbeaten in the KVAC and Class B West, overcoming a cold first quarter to run away from Nokomis, 71-49, in Tuesday girls’ basketball.

Emily Keene poured in 19 points to go with 12 rebounds, while Samantha Richards and Kailee Newcomb each added 13 for the Phoenix (12-0). Richards scored all 13 in the second half after Spruce Mountain rallied from a 15-8 deficit to lead 28-25 at the half. She also hauled down eight boards.

Vanese Barnes chipped in 10 rebounds and five steals for the Phoenix. Newcomb also made five thefts.

Mt. Blue 52, Brunswick 47 (OT)

BRUNSWICK — Addie Brinkman led the offense with 14 points as Mt. Blue nipped Brunswick 52-47 in overtime in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

Eryn Doiron and Caitlin Kane posted 12 points each for the Cougars (7-4).

Julia Champagne netted a game-high 21 points for the Dragons (6-5) in the winning effort.

Oxford Hills 67, Lewiston 47

PARIS — Anna Winslow put in a game-high 18 points as Oxford Hills rolled to a 67-47 win over visiting Lewiston in girls’ basketball.

Tianna Sugars netted 14 points for the Vikings (10-2), and teammate Erin Morton added seven points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Morgan Eliasen and Amanda Swart each scored eight points for the Blue Devils (1-11).

Leavitt 47, Gardiner 46

TURNER — Chantel Eells scored 12 points, converting a three-point-play for Leavitt with 48 seconds to go as the Hornets tipped Gardiner 47-46 in girls’ basketball. Eells missed a pair of free throws in the final seconds, but Kassie Murch stole an outlet pass on the Tigers’ next possession to seal the win. Liz Goulette had 13 points and eight rebounds to spark Leavitt (5-7).

Mary Toman had 11 points and six boards for Gardiner (4-8), and Lauren Chadwick added 10 points.

Boothbay 48, Monmouth 27

BOOTHBAY — Morgan Crocker dazzled with 25 points to lead Boothbay to a 48-27 victory over Monmouth in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Seahawks (10-1) turned up the tempo in the second half as they led by just four points at the half. Cagney O’Brien contributed nine points for Boothbay.

Sidney Wilson recorded 13 points on four field goals and three free throws, including two from three-point range, for the Mustangs (7-3) in the losing effort.

Girls’ hockey

St. Dom’s 4, Brunswick 2

BRUNSWICK — Senior Jessica Boulet had a hand in all four goals for the Saints as St. Dom’s shrugged off an early deficit and downed Brunswick 4-2 in girls’ hockey.

Boulet opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first, rifling a shot to the top corner to beat Dragon goalie Jordan Van Savage. Boulet then assisted on a pair of second period goals by Callie Sampson as the Saints (5-7) took back the lead, and Boulet added an unassisted insurance goal in the third.

Payton Winslow turned aside 14 shots in the St. Dom’s net.

Colleen McKearny and Caitlyn Dyson scored for Brunswick (1-12). Van Savage finished with 22 saves.
