On Wednesday, the Sun Journal received an email from Twitter saying a tweet of Webster was “trending in your network.” It was getting re-tweeted a lot.
The picture is a graphic with Webster’s face — complete with a heavy snow hat — in the foreground and lines of snowed-in vehicles on a highway in the background.
The tweet from @Nick_Kelly18 says: “@LewistonSuper be like, ‘You can go to school.'”
It further builds Webster’s reputation as the superintendent who doesn’t call snow days.
Webster saw the tweet Tuesday. He liked it. He re-tweeted it, saying it’s an example of a good tweet. “Here’s a tweet that poked a little fun at me, is tasteful and humorous.”
He assumed Nick Kelly is a Lewiston High School a student whose graduation year will be 2018. Kelly told the Sun Journal he is a sophomore at LHS.
Webster said he’s talked with teachers about what do to when students use bad language on social media sites, including the F-bomb, as some did last week when Webster didn’t call off school.
Students could face discipline for tweeting inappropriate language, Webster said.
Back to the snowbound tweet: If Webster were to grade his followers’ tweets, he’d give Nick Kelly an A.
