We provide all forms of general dentistry services including preventive and diagnostic care (exams and x-rays, prophylaxis, fluoride and decay preventive sealants for our young patients); restorative (fillings) and fixed and removable prosthetics (crown and bridge and removable partial dentures) as well as extractions, emergency dental care and oral health education.

Our dental centers, located in Biddeford, Farmington, Lewiston, Portland, and Rumford, are the oral health home for approximately 20,200 children and adults including 3,000 adults with special needs.

Community Dental is committed to our communities. On July 1, 2014 Community Dental, Tufts School of Dental Medicine and Maine Medical Center partnered to implement an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program.

Community Dental provides outreach to HeadStart Centers with the delivery of examinations by a dentist and oral health education to participants. Our oral health educators provide dental education to medical, mental health, and other specialty providers as well as area schools, businesses, and organizations.

Community Dental is a preferred provider with most private dental insurance plans, MaineCare and offers an income-based sliding fee scale to individuals who qualify based on submitted household financial information.

United Way support of our patients assistance fund ensures access and affordable services for those most vulnerable to the consequences of untreated dental disease and its impact on existing health conditions, poor nutrition, school attendance, employment opportunities, social exclusion and self esteem.

Our Rumford Dental Health Center opened in February 2008 and its staff is committed to improving the health and lives of the people of the River Valley.

Oral disease, once established, is a progressive condition with consequences to overall health and existing health diagnoses. Dental pain and disease cause school and job absences, employment difficulties, compromised nutritional intake, and social exclusion; untreated, it puts individuals at greater risk for the consequences of progressive oral health disease, including diabetes, pulmonary and heart disease, and the increased costs of treating these.

Dental disease is preventable and curable, and Community Dental is committed to addressing the oral health of children and adults so they may lead healthier, more successful lives and be free of dental pain.

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, the Rumford Dental Health Center is re-opening after storm repairs. Staff and patients had been travelling to the Farmington office since July. Many community members helped the reopening efforts and made the process go smoothly.

Generous donations were received from Rumford Hospital, Franklin Savings Bank, River Valley Rotary, United Way of Oxford County, Tom and Sally Carey, Riverside Realty, Dave and Patty Duguay, Joseph Sirois, and Rich Allen. Special thanks also to all of the members of the Friends of Community Dental group that has been working to improve the oral health of the River Valley area and keep Community Dental operating.
