1929 – 2015

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Pearl D. Berry, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, in New Port Richey, Fla., surrounded by family and friends.

Born Nov. 5, 1929, in East Greenwich, R.I., a daughter of Harry and Mildred (Stalker) Dyer, Pearl was a 1951 graduate of Bridgewater State College.

On July 19, 1953, she married Theodore “Ted” Berry in Bridgewater, Mass. They raised four children in North Livermore: John “Jack,” twins Michael and Linda, and Randall.

Pearl retired from teaching after more than 20 years at Livermore Elementary School and she volunteered at New Port Richey, Fla., schools after retirement. Pearl was a member of the MEA, NEA and the Maine Association of Retirees.

There is nothing Pearl enjoyed more than the simple things and quiet times she enjoyed with family and friends. A game of cards, cribbage, Scrabble (which she was very good at), reading and singing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among her favorite things to do.

Pearl and Ted retired to Colony Cove in New Port Richey, Fla. Pearl and Ted made many new friends wherever they went and always had family close by. At Colony Cove, she was able to be close to her dear sister, Anne, and her husband, David Chaffee; and her brother, John (deceased) and his wife, Janette Dyer. She also cherished her friendship with Jane Simoneau, a fellow teacher at Livermore Elementary School. All of them were a great comfort in her final days. They made so many great friends with whom they visited and talked about throughout the years. Pearl once said, “I have many best friends.”

Pearl is survived by her children and spouses, all of Maine, Jack and Lynne of Livermore Falls, Michael and Crystal of Turner, Linda and James Timberlake of Turner and Randall and Diane of Livermore; her sister, Anne and husband, David Chaffee, of New Port Richey, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Janette Dyer, also of New Port Richey, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Rockwood Berry of Haines City, Fla., Thomas and Beverly Berry of Livermore and Carlton and Diane Berry of Livermore; sisters-in-law, Frances Berry of Livermore and Glenys Berry of Madison; her grandchildren, Matt Timberlake, Audrey O’Clair, Jessica Woodcock, Jared Berry, David Berry, Nicholas Berry and Daniel Berry; and eight great-grandchildren.
