Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Jan. 12 were as follows: first, Jan and Vern Arey; second, Paul Mitnik and Paul Sherman; third, Larry Fortier and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock.

Winners on Jan. 13 were: first, Debra Gardner and Tom Goodwin; second/third tie, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier with Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for more information.

No game will be played on Monday, Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Introduction to Phlebotomy course

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services department at Central Maine Community College will offer Introduction to Phlebotomy on Thursday evenings from Jan. 29 to March 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost is $475 and includes materials and book.

Registration deadline for this program is Jan. 22.

A combination of lecture, lab and hands-on practical experience, this course will allow a student to develop the skills needed to work in an entry-level position in medical facilities as a phlebotomist. Coursework includes selecting and preparing the skin puncture site, collecting specimens, adhering to the proper health and safety guidelines, patient/technician relationship and clerical duties associated with proper record keeping of laboratory tests. Upon completion, students may qualify for employment in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices and other health care settings.
