1933 – 2015
Lewiston — Gerard R. Fecteau, 81, of 108 Howe St., Auburn, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Central Maine Medical Center.
Born in Lewiston on June 9, 1933, he was the son of Albert and Irene Valliere Fecteau. Gerry grew up in New Auburn, where he attended Catholic schools. He worked on many farms and in the textile mills prior to serving with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Upon returning from the war, he married the former Geraldine T. Martin on June 30, 1955. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years on June 6, 2014, seven months prior to his own passing.
He was a hardworking man who enjoyed his career as an electrician. Gerry retired from Bowdoin College after working his way up to becoming a master electrician, and just renewed his license at the age of 81. He also had a lifelong career in Company C,133rd Engineer Battalion, National Guard, and retired with full honors. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. While his family was growing up, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends and family, and had a lifelong love of animals. He was an avid NFL fan, but the New England Patriots were by far his favorite team, and he never missed a game. Most of all, Gerry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by loving and grateful children and their families; including six sons, Louis Fecteau and his wife, Janey, of North Carolina, Reggie Fecteau and wife, Sue, of Buckfield, Richard Fecteau and wife, Debbie, of Auburn, Steve Fecteau of Auburn, Andrew Fecteau and wife, Sharon, of Salem, and Anthony Fecteau of Auburn; his only daughter, Tina Webster and husband, Robert, of Leeds; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Marston-Fecteau of Lewiston;, a brother, Albert Fecteau and wife, Teresa, of Portland; two sisters, Lorrette Roberts of Lewiston and Lina Maxwell of Illinois; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Fecteau; son, Daniel Fecteau; and two sisters.
