TOPSHAM — Brooke Reynolds led Edward Little High School with 16 points and Eraleena Hairston added 12 as the Red Eddies beat Mt. Ararat 59-38 in a girls’ basketball game Wednesday.
The Eddies (8-3) took 27-22 lead by halftime. EL exploded in the third quarter with 23 points.
Monmouth 50, Telstar 37
MONMOUTH — Monmouth Academy jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the first quarter and went on to beat Telstar 50-37 in MVC girls’ basketball action Wednesday.
Maddie Amero led the Mustangs (8-3) with 12 points. Sidney Wilson added seven points and seven rebounds. Haley West chipped in six points and Abbey Allen scored five and grabbed seven rebounds.
Telstar (0-11) got 21 points from Becca Howard and eight from Haley Peterson.
Boothbay 51, Dirigo 42
BOOTHBAY — Boothbay outscored Dirigo 18-6 in the final quarter to hand the Cougars their second loss of the season with a 51-42 win in MVC girls’ basketball Wednesday.
The Cougars (9-2) led the Seahawks (11-1) 36-33 entering the final quarter.
Morgan Crocker and Cagney O’Brien each had 16 to lead Boothbay, which beat Dirigo last week in Dixfield. Sara Durgan added 10. The Cougars got 16 from Kelsey Hutchins and 10 from Sabrina Daoud.
Boys’ hockey
Cape Elizabeth 2, Edward Little 1
PORTLAND — Ben Eledahl and Curis Guimond each scored a goal as Cape Elizabeth shook off stubborn Cape Elizabeth 2-1 in a boys’ hockey game Wednesday.
Matt Riggle assisted on both Capers’ (6-4) goals. EL (5-5) made interesting when Cade Chapman took a feed from Ben Steele and scored to tie the game.
Law/Sko. 4, Pol/G-NG/Oak Hill 1
WINSLOW — Brady Martin and Cody Martin each had a pair of goals as the boys’ hockey team from Lawrence/Skowhegan beat the squad from Poland, Gray-New Gloucester and Oak Hill 4-1.
Brady Martin scored in the first period on assists from Sean Savage and Sam Haver. The Bandits (3-5-1) then opened a 4-0 lead in the third. Brady Martin scored just 1:07 into the third. Cody Martin then added his two goals at 1:23 and 4:15 respectively. The 26ers (3-6) got their lone goal at 8:07 of the third on a tally by Bailey Drouin. Ethan Cailler had the assist.
Curtis Martin had the win in goal, stopping 16 shots. Nick Hemond made 36 saves for the 26ers.
