ROXBURY — The Board of Selectmen agreed Tuesday evening to put money in the 2015-16 municipal budget to replace the sign on the front of the Town Office.

Board of Selectmen Chairman John Sutton said Wednesday that the sign is starting to show its age.

“It’s made out of mylar, and it’s at the point where it needs to be replaced,” he said.

No decision was made on whether to replace the sign, though Sutton said the board agreed to place money in the budget to construct a permanent one.

“It’s been our goal to make that building look better, and replacing that sign is a good start,” Sutton said.

Selectmen also decided to take no action on switching to LED streetlights.

Sutton said the town has about four streetlights and after LED security lights were installed on the front of the Town Office there was discussion on whether to change to streetlights to LEDs.

“At this point, we don’t really have enough information about LED streetlights to make a decision,” Sutton said. “It’s my understanding that we might have to have meters on each one. The board decided to investigate the issue at sometime in the future.”

Sutton said the board met with its Maine Municipal Association insurance carrier Tuesday to discuss the town’s level of coverage.

“Most of our discussion focused on the fact that they were going to increase the bonding level of our town officials, on the recommendation of the Maine Municipal Association,” Sutton said. “Basically, if one of the town officials makes an error, the bonding would cover that error.”

Selectmen voted 2-1 to allow a resident to cut some wood on property next to the Town Office. Sutton was the dissenting vote.
