LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus, Western Maine’s designated agency on aging, has announced the location launch of its newest Around Town Café partner Chick-A-Dee Restaurant at 1472 Lisbon St.

The Around Town Café program provides nutritious meals to older adults and adults with disabilities at participating restaurants. Menu items are reviewed by a registered dietitian to ensure at least one-third of the daily requirements for senior nutrition are met.

Around Town Café meals at Chick-A-Dee may be obtained by adults over the age of 60 with a voucher (requested donation of $5). The restaurant is open for lunch daily from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The Around Town Café program gives people the opportunity to gather with friends when and where they want to,” said Betsy Sawyer-Manter, executive director of SeniorsPlus. “It’s an option that is particularly appealing to individuals who want to get out and socialize with peers.”

SeniorsPlus has a focus on nutrition and its programming includes Meals on Wheels in its target counties of Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties.

Vouchers are available at the office of SeniorsPlus in Lewiston, the Livermore Distribution Center and the Rumford Hospital Business Office. Check, cash or credit card payment can be used at the Lewiston office of SeniorsPlus, and at Livermore Distribution. Check and cash are accepted at the Rumford Hospital Business Office. A flyer with further details of other participating restaurants is available at all three offices.
